Implementation & commissioning of a private 5G network for improved lgistics at the Seaport Wismar
Seaport Wismar has established itself as a dependable and enduring logistics partner in the Baltic Sea region. Responding to the increasing need for digitalisation in small and medium-sized ports, Seaport Wismar leads the project “PORTABLE 5.0” to explore a variety of 5G applications for ports.
Goals
- Enablement of remote control of ship loaders and vehicles for timber transport from the port to timber manufacturers
- Increase of efficiency with (semi) autonomous vehicles & remote-controlled drones for remote maintenance and bulk material measurement
- Optimisation of processes through real-time dispatching to resident companies
- Advanced digitisation and process optimisation with real-time operations in logistics
- Time savings and parallel task fulfilment through remote control & maintenance
- Cost efficiency & easier working conditions for on-site personnel
- High multiplier effects for implementing, integrating and testing 5G use cases for German ports & logistics companies
