Partnership evolution announced by COCUS and TUI

At COCUS, our goal is to connect industries and empower innovations. We develop sustainable and individual digital solutions for and with our customers. We set-up, manage and scale-up software delivery centres with the option to transfer the delivery center to the customer, as part of our BOT proposition (Build-Operate-Transfer). We offer and work with the complex parts of software, infrastructure, data, security, connectivity and operations, so that our customers don‘t have to.

In 2017 TUI and COCUS established a partnership to deliver a Software Development Hub in Portugal, supporting TUI’s digital transformation in the areas of Mobile & Web Development, Data & Analytics, and Cloud Technologies.

Over the past 5 years, both parties have collaborated extensively to make a significant impact on the business, covering diverse IT domains with 19 agile teams. Additionally, COCUS and TUI have established a presence within the Portuguese technology ecosystem.

This agreement encompassed the establishment and management of local operations in Portugal, which included software delivery, staffing, training, and various shared services. The transfer of the hub to TUI was an anticipated option, marking the natural progression of a successful and mature nearshore operation.

Given the success of the digital acceleration hub and the proven benefits for TUI, both parties have now reached an agreement to transfer this hub during the second half of 2023. They will work together to ensure a seamless transition, involving more than 120 skilled engineers.

COCUS operations in Portugal will continue to support other existing customers by leveraging emerging technologies. This year, we have also announced our expansion into two new areas: Cybersecurity and Private Mobile 5G networks.
